Wet Blasting
At SHG we have an industrial 40"x40"x40" vapor honing machine that will allow us to clean and restore all sorts of items. This process is widely used in aerospace, auto reman, auto restoration, CNC machining, motorcycle restoration, tools, and so much more. The great advantage over conventional dry blasting of wet blasting is it cleans by flow of water and abrasive running across the part surface not by sheer force and impact. This combined mixture of water and abrasive media allows the water to act as a lubricant or a shield between the parts surface and media protecting it from erosion and distortion. The process will also provide a slight surface peening depending on the abrasive media used to help make the parts harder and more stain resistant ideal in restoration applications. The mixture made by this process is known as a "wet slurry" effect and this helps trap and reduce the harmful dust particles making it safer to use. In fact the wet slurry process will have no media impeded into a softer substrate like aluminum, brass and bronze. Since water is a big factor in this process it will not heat warp thin parts making this a great option for those close tolerance areas of concerns. Our vapor honing process is simply the best option that leaves a very attractive satin finish on many different parts like stainless steel, aluminum, brass and cast iron.
